Frederick (Fred) W. Bauer passed away on May 14, 2017, his daughter was at his side, he was 91 years old. Proceeded in death by his wife Anita Faye Bauer, they were married over 65 years. Fred served in the Army during WWII, in a unit called the “Army Air Core” and was discharged November 1946.

When Fredric Baur passed away on May 4, 2008 at the age of 89 his children were happy to honor his final wish by placing his cremains inside a Pringles container, the invention of which he was most proud. Baur was a chemist who specialized in food storage research and development for Proctor and Gamble in Cincinnati. In 1966, when almost every other potato chip came in bags, Baur developed the iconic tube, stating that, “the Pringles can was a revolution within the realm of snack food.” He stipulated that upon his death, a portion of his Fredric Baur’s concept was at the forefront throughout. The stacking system used by Pringles meant they could be easily and economically transported.
